These people are building a 4-bit adding machine from K’nex. It is 10 feet tall. That is a lot of K’nex.
See some videos and animations on their blog. This is a great project for higher level logic classes. Pretty good explanations are included.
This is a great site where students can watch short videos about how science and math are used in real careers. Anything from building Mars rovers to raising ferrets. These can be purchased on DVD or watched online.
If you like manipulatives, the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives is a great site to use. It contains manipulatives from simple base blocks all the way up to High School Algebra and Geometry. Check it out for yourself.
